Ecology - Golf
In close collaboration with German and Dutch universities, Key Resorts have recently completed Spain’s first ecological golf course. By building the greens on a layer of biodegradable foam, the evaporation of water was reduced by 70%. In conjunction with specially developed slow-release fertilizers, which nourish the turf grass for up to 3 months, the foam ensures that no fertilizer filters down into the ground water. The golf ponds, which cover an area the size of 18 football fields, use ionised oxygen to keep them free of undesired legionella, algae and germs. Our non-chemical golf ponds are the only ones of their kind in the world.
At the heart of each Key Resort lies a golf course, developed by renowned experts to strict ecological standards. Some of our greens even meet the high demands of professional golfing. In order to ensure top quality and keep abreast of new developments, Key Resort executives are members of international golf organisations:
- GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America)
– NGCOA (National Golf Course Owners Association)
– NGF (National Golf Association)
– PGA (Professional Golf Association)
– Spanish Golf Federation
